Dimethylpolysiloxane (AKA Polydimethylsiloxane) is a food-grade chemical used as an anti-foaming agent in many types of processed foods — added to food during the production process.

Dimethylpolysiloxane belongs to a group of compounds that are commonly referred to as silicones. They are commonly used silicon-based organic polymers, and are particularly known for their unusual “flow properties”.
