Cystine (I-cysteine)

Also known as: Cysteine, Lcysteine

L-cysteine is a non-essential amino acid that is used as a dietary supplement as well as in baked goods as a dough conditioner.

*This is not considered clean label when used as an additive for bread products.

Note: Since cysteine is an amino acid, it obviously occurs in nature. It is present in the following food items (to name a few)

– Animal sources: meat (including pork and poultry), eggs, dairy; 

– Plant sources: red peppers, garlic, onions, broccoli, granola, wheat germ, sprouted lentils.
