Vanillin

Naturally occurring “vanillin” is clean label, however synthetic “vanillin” is not clean label. Vanillin is a synthetic sweetener made from wood pulp and eugenol. It has a chemical formula of C8H8O3. It is most commonly found in ice creams and other desserts, as well as in cosmetic products like perfumes.
